Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

MEMBERSHIP

How can I become a member?

Membership sign-up can be completed 100% online by going to the Schedule page, clicking on the class you’d like to attend, and following the prompts. If you have previously attended class at CounterBalance, be sure to use the same email as before to access your account. For questions about drop-ins, please see “CLASS BOOKING” section. All memberships, excluding Kids’ Capoeira, have year-round open enrollment.

My child wants to start Capoeira. How can we start?

All kids 5.5 and above must complete an Intro to Capoeira series before entering our year-round programming.  Sign up for our next series here.

What is a Class Card?

Our 10-class card is a good option for folks that will have a crazy schedule or travel often.  This 10-class pass can be purchased in lieu of a monthly membership. The 10 classes must be used within 3 months of purchase. You can buy a 10-class card by going to the SCHEDULE page, clicking on the class you’d like to attend, and following the prompts.

Can I pause my membership?

Memberships can be paused for one month each year without being subject to price increases and/or a re-initiation fee.  Unused weeks do not carry over upon return.  Please make sure to give us two weeks’ notice so we have ample time to deactivate autopay.

How do I pause or cancel my membership?

Please email counterbalancegym@gmail.com at least two weeks prior to your intended pause or cancel date.

Is there a membership contract?

No, all memberships are month-to-month, however, we require autopay.

How do I restart my membership?

If your membership has been paused for up to a month, please email counterbalancegym@gmail.com to restart. If your membership has been canceled or paused for longer than one month, you may sign yourself up online by going to the SCHEDULE page, clicking on the class you’d like to attend, and following the prompts.

How do I upgrade or downgrade my membership?

Send us an email at counterbalancegym@gmail.com. We’re happy to adjust your membership at any time.

What types of membership are available?

We offer an all-gym VIP membership, which includes every class offered in our space. Memberships for individual modalities are available, with the option of a fitness add-on. In addition, we offer a 10-class card, which must be used within 3 months of purchase.

CLASS BOOKINGS

Do I have to download the app?

Yes, the ZenPlanner app is how you reserve and cancel classes. It is important to do so, in case there is a schedule change, and to allow our teachers to prepare class materials.

How do I reserve classes?

Once you have signed up for a membership or class card, you will receive an email from ZenPlanner, our gym management system. This email will have instructions on how to download the ZenPlanner app. This is where you will do all of your class booking.

How can I cancel my class booking?

If you have a membership or class card, you can cancel your class booking up to 1 hour prior to class time within the ZenPlanner app.

How do I book a drop-in?

All drop-ins are booked through the CounterBalance website by going to the SCHEDULE page and clicking the class you’d like to attend. You will see a drop-down menu of booking options. Select “Drop-In.”

Can I attend a class if I didn’t book it?

We prefer that all classes are pre-reserved, however, we can make exceptions. If you are not a member and are having trouble booking class online or decide to come in last-minute, you have a few options. You can give us a call, send us an email at counterbalancela@gmail.com , or arrive 10 minutes prior to the class start time in order to sign up.

I’m having trouble signing into the app or website. What do I do?

Give us a call at 323-739-6543 or send us an email at counterbalancela@gmail.com to get help.
